Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2025

Last Jamuary 26, 2025, Sunday, my brother, Lester and I went to Iloilo City to attend the Dinagyang Festival, the provincial fiesta of Iloilo held annually during the 4th Sunday of January. This will be my first time to attend Dinagyang and 2nd time to attend a provincial fiesta after Penafrancia Festival in Naga in 1992. Our PAL flight is around 4 AM at NAIA Termnial 2. We arrived at the airport as early as 11 PM, Saturday. We arrived at the Iloilo International Airport before 6am.

After arriving, we went straight to Oton where we will be staying for the duration of our stay in Iloilo. We stayed at Tito Mimi Davila’s house in Oton. Picture below.

We had breakfast at Tito Mimi’s house at Oton and slept afterwards around 7am. We woke around 12 PM to get ready to attend the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City. We went to City Proper in Iloilo City near Robinsons Place Iloilo to attend Dinagyang Festival. Lester and I had face paint for around 20 pesos each.

Lester and I had a picture with someone who had a costume of ati-atihan and holding a Sto. Nino statue. I donated 6 pesos for having a picture with him. As we are ready to attend the Dinagyang parade, we decided to drop in Robinsons Iloilo to have our lunch in Deco’s. We had our Iloilo’s national dish, La Paz Batchoy. At the same time, La Paz Batchoy is my favorite Ilonggo food.
After lunch, we decided to go to Calle Real to watch the Dinagyang Parade. But we were advice that the parade has not started yet. At around 4 PM, we decided to go to Iloilo Business Park Festive Walk, a big real estate development of Megaworld in Iloilo City, to watch Kapamilya Carawan. Based on what I heard, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano will be gracing the event. But there are a lot of Ilonggos watching the Kapamilya Caravan. We decided to just walk around Festive Walk. We decided to end our day in Festive Walk and return home to Oton.

Our Dinagyang Experience is tiring but worth it. I am thinking of going back to Iloilo next year for Dinagyang 2026.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who lived in a land of gloom a light has shone"
